Cleaning Your Diamond Jewellery

Posted on January 20 2015

Remember when you prepare yourself for an evening out taking a shower and doing your make up, you mustn’t forget your diamond! Diamonds have an affinity with grease and finger prints and hand cream etc can adhere to the surface of a diamond making them appear dull.

Always give your diamond the wash treatment before you go out for an evening. You will be amazed how the sparkle improves !

Cleaning your diamond jewellery is a simple and straightforward task which you can do at home using regular, safe, household products.

Create a warm, mild, soapy solution by mixing liquid soap, dish-washing liquid, or detergent with warm water. Do not use chlorine detergent.

Soak your diamond in the solution.

If necessary, use a soft brush to clean small crevices. Do not use rough or metal bristles. Toothbrushes work the best.

Rinse the diamond jewellery in warm water. You may place the ring in a strainer so as not to drop it. And if you are doing this at the sink, put the plug in for extra safety!

Use a clean, dry, lint-free cloth to dry your diamond jewellery.

It is important to remember that this applies to diamond jewellery.
Please be careful with jewellery set with pearls or other organic material. Take advice from from a jewellery specialist before using ultra sonic cleaners with pearls and particularly emeralds.
